We're not farmers!

Last year we took the leap and decided to be part-time farmers. We were determined put the skills we'd learned in years past to use and make some money. Honestly, 2013 is a blur. We were so busy it's hard to believe it was real.  It went by so fast. We learned a lot last year with our farm business. One of the most important things we learned was that we're not farmers, we're gardeners. We had high hopes for our little farm, but between life, injury, nature and everything else, it kicked our butt! One major thing I took away from the experience was I much prefer to give my produce away than make a few bucks. Farming was an awesome experience and I'm so glad we took the risk. We learned so much about growing and ourselves. But at the end of the day, we would just rather grow in our own back yard and share our bounty with friends and family. So, this year we're scaling thing way back. We're going to concentrate on just a few crops and spend more time tending to our fruit and hops. We also have a long list of house projects and a few trips planned. This is going to be an exciting year at Chateau LaBeaume.
